-
For the Frosting:

- Whole milk

Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
-
Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, sugar, sour cream, and eggs until smooth and creamy.
-
Beat in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract until combined.
-
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined, then fold in the chopped walnuts.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
-
Allow the brownies to cool for about 15 minutes.
-
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it turns a slight brown color and smells like roasted nuts.
-
Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Add additional milk to thin out the icing if needed.
-
Spread the icing over the cooled brownies and top with chopped walnuts.
-
Allow the icing to harden for an hour before cutting and enjoying!
Notes
If you find yourself with leftover brownies (which is rare, but it can happen!), store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, you can refrigerate the brownies for up to a week or freeze them for up to 3 months. Just be sure to let them come to room temperature before enjoying for optimal flavor and texture.
